Dr. Donald R. Currey, who unwittingly cut down the oldest living tree in the world for his graduate research in 1964. The United States Forest Service permitted him to cut it down, and no one realized how old it was until they counted the rings at the lab.
  This is an ancient bristlecone pine, the same species as Prometheus. Prometheus was growing in Nevada before it was felled.
  This is the innermost core of the trunk of Prometheus.
